KALOPSIA
VISUAL DESIGN

This project involved the creation of an EP cover for a client who wanted to visually express the psychological concept of “Kalopsia”, the illusion of perceiving the world more beautifully than it truly is. In this specific case, the narrative focused on a deep emotional attachment: a desire for someone who seemed to reciprocate, but whose intentions ultimately proved to be the opposite.

To visually represent this inner conflict, I centered the concept around the nucleus accumbens, a small yet powerful part of the brain responsible for processing motivation, desire, and emotional reward. The idea was to depict how this neurological center, when overwhelmed by distorted emotional perception, begins to negatively affect the rest of the brain, echoing the emotional dissonance and damage experienced by the individual.

The final artwork translates this idea into a powerful and intimate visual: a central core pulsing with deceptive energy, subtly eroding the surrounding neural structures. Through composition, texture, and contrast, the cover reflects the fragile boundary between perception and reality, and how inner emotions can reshape our world, sometimes in harmful ways.
